Safety essentials

  • PDE5 inhibitors must NOT be combined with nitrate medicines or 'poppers' — the combination can cause a dangerous fall in blood pressure.
  • Speak to a doctor first if you have heart or blood-vessel disease, low blood pressure, or liver or kidney problems.
  • Only one dose should be taken in any 24-hour period; higher doses do not work better and raise the risk of side effects.
