What is Sildenafil?

Sildenafil is the active substance of Viagra and a prescription-only medicine in the EU/EEA, used for erectile dysfunction in adult men: difficulty getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sex. It is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, like tadalafil, vardenafil and avanafil. How it works

Sildenafil works by blocking the PDE5 enzyme, which allows levels of a substance called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) to rise in the tissues of the penis.
