Fenbendazole 150 mg

Fenbendazole is a veterinary antiparasitic medicine belonging to the benzimidazole class. It is used in animals — including dogs, cats, horses, livestock and other species — to treat infections caused by gastrointestinal worms and certain other parasites. It is a veterinary product and is not an approved medicine for use in humans; it should be used only in animals, for its intended antiparasitic purpose, under the guidance of a veterinary surgeon.

Fenbendazole works by interfering with the internal cell structures of parasitic worms. Benzimidazoles bind to a protein called tubulin, which the parasite needs to form microtubules — structures essential for transporting nutrients and maintaining the cell. By disrupting this process, the medicine starves and ultimately kills the parasite. It acts on worm cell structures, which differ from those of the host animal.

Fenbendazole is a veterinary medicine and should be given to animals only, exactly as directed by a veterinary surgeon and according to the product label for the species being treated. It is available in forms such as oral granules, pastes and liquids, and the appropriate product, course length and schedule depend on the animal and the parasite involved. Do not use it in humans.

Common (usually mild and temporary):

• Mild gastrointestinal upset in the treated animal, such as vomiting or soft stools
• Reduced appetite
• Drooling or salivation shortly after dosing
• Mild lethargy
• Loose droppings as parasites are cleared

Store the veterinary product in its original packaging at the temperature stated on the label, away from heat, light and moisture, out of the reach of children and animals. Keep containers tightly closed. Do not use after the expiry date.
