Tadalafil vs Sildenafil: which lasts longer?

Kam4eu Pharmacy Team

Tadalafil and Sildenafil are the two most common erectile-dysfunction molecules. Both are PDE5 inhibitors and work in the same fundamental way — the practical difference is timing.

The headline difference: duration

  • Sildenafil (Kamagra, Cenforce, Fildena) — onset around 30–60 minutes, lasts roughly 4 hours. Best taken when you know roughly when you'll need it.
  • Tadalafil (Vidalista) — onset around 30 minutes, but lasts up to 36 hours. This long window is why it's nicknamed "the weekend pill" — it allows for more spontaneity.

Food and onset

Sildenafil's absorption can be slowed by a heavy meal. Tadalafil is less affected by food, which some people find more convenient.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose Sildenafil if you prefer a shorter, more predictable window and want the most widely studied option.
  • Choose Tadalafil if you'd rather not plan around a tablet and value the longer duration.

Neither is "stronger" — they're different timing profiles of the same kind of medicine. The right choice depends on your lifestyle and your doctor's advice.

Safety

Both interact dangerously with nitrate medicines and both require caution with heart, liver and kidney conditions. Always read the leaflet and consult a doctor or pharmacist first.
