Fildena vs Kamagra: Comparing Two Sildenafil Brands

The same active ingredient

Fildena and Kamagra are two of the better-known generic brands of sildenafil, the active ingredient used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). Because they share the same active substance, they work in the same fundamental way: by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow to the penis when a man is sexually aroused. Neither produces an effect without arousal.

If the ingredient is identical, what is the difference? Mostly it comes down to the manufacturer, the formats offered, the strengths available and the overall presentation.

Different manufacturers

The most basic difference is the company behind each brand:

  • Kamagra is produced by Ajanta Pharma, an India-based manufacturer.
  • Fildena is produced by Fortune Healthcare, a separate India-based manufacturer.

Both are established generic brands. As with any generic, the value is in offering the same active ingredient as the original reference medicine, typically at a lower price.

Formats and presentation

Where the two brands diverge most visibly is in the range of formats they offer:

  • Kamagra is widely recognised for both conventional tablets and its flavoured oral jelly sachets, which give an alternative to swallowing a tablet.
  • Fildena is best known for its tablets, often distinguished by colour-coded presentations across its product line.

Tablet shape, colour and packaging differ between the brands, but these are cosmetic distinctions rather than differences in how the medicine behaves.

Strengths

Both brands are produced in more than one strength so that treatment can be matched to the individual. We have deliberately not listed specific milligram figures here, because the right strength is a clinical decision. A doctor will consider your overall health, any other medicines you take and how you respond before advising on a suitable strength. Never increase a dose on your own.

How to choose between them

Since the active ingredient is the same, the choice often comes down to:

  • Format preference — tablet versus flavoured jelly.
  • Availability of the strength a doctor recommends.
  • Price and pack size.
  • Personal tolerability — some people simply get on better with one presentation.

There is no universal "better" option; the better choice is the one that suits your needs and that a healthcare professional considers appropriate for you.

Shared safety considerations

Because both are sildenafil, they share the same safety profile and the same critical warnings:

  • They must never be taken with nitrate medicines (used for chest pain and some heart conditions), as the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
  • They are not suitable for everyone, particularly people with certain heart or blood-pressure conditions.
  • Possible side effects can include headache, facial flushing, a blocked nose and indigestion.

Because ED can occasionally point to an underlying problem such as cardiovascular disease, it is sensible to discuss symptoms with a doctor rather than treating them in isolation.
