Is It Safe to Pay by Bank Transfer Online? What to Check First

How bank transfers work for online orders
A bank transfer moves money directly from your account to the seller's account using your own banking app or website. Within the EU and EEA this is usually a SEPA transfer, identified by an IBAN and a BIC. In the UK, domestic transfers use a sort code and account number. There is no card network in the middle, which is one reason transfers can carry lower fees than some other methods.
At Kam4eu, the account you are shown depends on your currency. EUR orders are settled to a euro IBAN; UK customers paying in GBP are shown a UK domestic account with a sort code and account number, so you never pay into the wrong account by mistake.
Is it safe?
Bank transfers are a long-established and secure way to pay, provided you take a few sensible precautions. The transfer itself is protected by your bank's own security — your login, two-factor checks and fraud monitoring all apply. The risks are not really technical; they come down to paying the right account, for the right amount, with the right reference.
Unlike a card payment, a completed bank transfer is not always easy to reverse, so the key is getting the details right before you send. Treat it the way you would any payment to a business: confirm who you are paying and keep your confirmation.
What to check before you send
- The account details match what the seller published. On Kam4eu these appear at checkout and in your order email.
- The currency is correct. Pay the EUR account for a euro order and the GBP account for a sterling order.
- The amount matches your order total. Round numbers are fine; underpaying delays dispatch.
- You have added the payment reference. This is your order reference, such as MB-A1B2C3, typed into the bank's reference or description field. It is how we match your money to your order.
Missing or mistyping the reference is the most common cause of a delayed order, because the payment arrives but cannot be matched automatically.
How Kam4eu handles your transfer
Once you place an order and choose bank transfer, we show you the correct account for your currency and your unique reference. When the payment clears, we dispatch within one working day. Standard delivery is 3–5 working days and is free on orders over €110; express delivery is 1–2 days. You can browse the catalogue first via shop all, including the erectile-dysfunction range and the antibiotics range.
Because SEPA transfers can take a little time to settle, especially over weekends and bank holidays, a transfer is often best when you are not in a hurry. If you need speed, an instant SEPA transfer (offered by many EU banks) clears faster than a standard one.
Protecting yourself generally
- Always start the transfer from inside your own banking app, never from a link sent by message
- Verify account details on the seller's own site rather than from an email forwarded to you
- Keep the confirmation screen or receipt until your order arrives
- Be wary of anyone pressuring you to change the account details at the last minute
These habits protect you whoever you are paying. For more on how we process orders and the other methods we accept — PayPal and crypto — see our FAQ.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I have to add a payment reference?+
The reference is your unique order number, and typing it into the bank's reference field is how we match your payment to your order. Leaving it out is the most common reason an order is delayed.
How long does a SEPA bank transfer take to arrive?+
A standard SEPA transfer can take one to a few working days, and longer over weekends or bank holidays. Many EU banks offer instant SEPA transfers, which clear far faster.
Will I pay into the right account if I am in the UK?+
Yes. UK customers paying in GBP are shown a UK domestic account with a sort code and account number, while EUR orders are shown a euro IBAN, so the details always match your currency.
Can a bank transfer be reversed if I make a mistake?+
A completed transfer is not always easy to reverse, which is why checking the account, currency, amount and reference before sending is so important. Contact your bank and the seller promptly if you spot an error.
